Ford Explorer
It's all about
Freedom. And power. The power to go where you want, when you want. With no worries.
The standard 4.0L SOHC V6 engine and 5-speed automatic transmission
pump out 210 hp and 254 lb.-ft. of torque, while meeting strict Ultra Low
Emissions Vehicle ll (ULE V ll) standards.1 Need even more power? Opt for the
4.6L 3-valve V8 engine and its first-in-class2 6-speed automatic transmission.
The V8 delivers a full 292 hp, 315 lb.-ft. of torque, and unsurpassed fuel
efficiency on the highway with up to 20 mpg. 3
A fully boxed frame and 4-wheel independent
suspension help Explorer hug the road and
deliver a quiet, comfortable ride. With the optional Control Trac® 4-wheeldrive
system, you're off-road ready in seconds. Go from everyday driving
in 4x4 AUTO to serious off-road venturing in 4x4 LO W, or use 4x4 HIGH to
get extra traction in snow or on icy roads.
Trailer Sway Control, new and standard on every Explorer this year, works
in conjunction with our exclusive AdvanceTrac® with RSC.® Together, they
monitor the yaw motion of the vehicle to determine if the trailer may be swaying
and take measures, such as reducing engine torque or applying precise
braking, to help bring both vehicle and trailer under control. When properly
equipped with the optional Class III/IV Trailer Tow Package and V8 engine,
Explorer 4x2 tows up to 7285 lbs-that's literally tons of freedom and fun.
